During the ceremony, Maj.-Gen. Zoltán Mihócza, Chief of Staff, HDF Joint Force Command said that the situation of the EUFOR-20 HUNCON had been special because the major part of the contingent, a company-sized unit had been on standby in Hungary as part of the EUFOR Intermediate Reserve Force, doing its daily duties – and beyond that, intensively participating in border security tasks.

It was stated that the minor part of the EUFOR-20 HUNCON – a 30-strong logistic contingent – had been deployed in the area of operations and had the primary task of maintaining the military equipment in a state of readiness.

“The members of the contingent executed their tasks in a disciplined way, and as an extra service, they helped with the redeployment of motor vehicles, too", underlined the chief of staff.

The major-general added that apart from them, a Hungarian EOD team had also been deployed in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and about their work it will suffice to say that according to conservative estimates made some years ago, the complete demining of the region will not be finished before 2028 at the earliest.
