Spain and Belgium take over NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission

The 40th rotation of NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission will take place this week (7 January 2016) in Lithuania and Estonia. Responsibility for the mission will be transferred from Hungary and Germany to Spain and Belgium, demonstrating NATO’s enduring solidarity with its Baltic Allies.

NATO marks 20 year anniversary of IFOR peacekeeping mission

This Sunday (20 December) NATO marks 20 years since the start of the Alliance’s first peacekeeping operation, the NATO-led Implementation Force (IFOR) which deployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 20 December 1995 following the successful negotiation of the Dayton peace accords.

NATO pledge to strengthen training on international humanitarian law

This week in Geneva, NATO attended for the first time the 32nd International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, in an observer capacity. The Organization formally pledged to continue a substantive dialogue with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to identify areas where training and education provided by NATO on international humanitarian law may be further enhanced.

Alliance invites Montenegro to start accession talks to become member of NATO

NATO Foreign Ministers decided on Wednesday (2 December 2015) to invite Montenegro to start accession talks to become the 29th member of the Alliance. Secretary General hailed the decision as “historic.” He said; “this is a good day for Montenegro, a good day for the Western Balkans and a good day for the Alliance.”

Experts put to the test during NATO’s largest annual cyber defence exercise

North Atlantic Council condemns terrorist attacks in Paris, stands in solidarity with France
