“Combat Ready”

The evaluation started with the inspection of documentation, and then the designated unit had to prove its readiness in practice. The battalion HQ and the sub-units were evaluated by NATO-delegated evaluators and those designated from the staff of the HDF Joint Force Command.

The several-month training for the CREVAL commenced early in the year with theoretical classes. During the recent period, the soldiers of the battalion attended training sessions and live fire exercises on different levels. The training of the battalion HQ was helped by the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) preparation and practice conducted in cooperation with the American troops.

During the dayslong CREVAL, the soldiers had to react in realistic scenarios to situations and incidents which are characteristic of conventional and asymmetric warfare. The most complex task was the execution of an offensive maneuver, during which the forces of the battalion destroyed the “enemy".

After briefing the personnel on the result of the CREVAL, Lt.-Col. László Deme, the commander of the IBG praised the soldiers’ outstanding performance, attributing it to the fact that everybody was conscientiously doing their tasks.
