Exercise Training Bridge in Estonia

A company-strong contingent from the HDF 25th Klapka György Infantry Brigade will soon travel to Estonia to participate in Exercise Training Bridge 2017. Lt.-Gen. János Huszár, Commander, HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) delivered a speech at the farewell ceremony of the contingent on Wednesday, 21 June.

The lieutenant-general told the lined up troops that they will soon be executing their tasks in an international environment, in the limelight of the Estonian public eye and the international media. The general added that the deployment and successful activity of the Hungarian contingent may promote Hungary’s positive image among allies and partner nations.

Gen. Huszár said that our participation demonstrates Hungary’s commitment to NATO, the Baltic allies and the V4 partner nations. He pointed out that from 1 July on, Estonia will hold the rotating presidency of the European Union, whereas Hungary will take over the presidency of the V4 member states. This coincidence can draw significant attention to the Hungarian contingent’s presence in Estonia, the commander of the HDF JFC added.

He also noted that most of the departing soldiers were drawn from the personnel of the HDF 25th Klapka György Infantry Brigade, but other military organizations also contribute to the task. Having been equipped with all necessary technical assets, the company-strong contingent will be serving in the international environment for three months.
