Hungarian Company Deploys to Forward Command Post in Kosovo
Szöveg: Lt. Csaba Búz | 2016. május 14. 10:02In early April, Delta Company of the 14th rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent (KFOR-14 HUNCON) deployed to Camp Nothing Hill near Leposavic.
One of the core missions of the Multinational Battle Group East Forward Command Post (MNBG-E FCP) is to operate checkpoints and mount patrols in the northern region of Kosovo. Mainly drawn from the HDF 5th Bocskai István Infantry Brigade, the Hungarian company stationed in Camp Novo Selo forms a part of this multinational battalion-level military grouping.
Kosovo’s northern region is distant from Novo Selo, therefore Camp Nothing Hill serves to “shorten" the distance between them. The subunits assigned to the FCP serve in the camp in rotations, and the Hungarian company took over duties from the German troops in early April.
As their deployment in the camp is nearing completion, Delta Company Commander Capt. Péter T. told us that there was no need to change the company’s activities, since they had regularly carried out patrols and manned checkpoints before. In addition, the Hungarian soldiers in Camp Nothing Hill are responsible for force protection in the camp, and also for operating an entry control point at the main gate. “During the patrols starting from the camp, the soldiers’ primary tasks are to monitor designated areas and to constantly supervise freedom of movement on the roads", the captain added.
Besides the continuous patrol duties, the general military training activities (crowd and riot control (CRC), weapons familiarization, map-reading) and the daily physical training (PT) programs are also going on.
