The event took place on the occasion of the Polish National Memorial Day of Cursed Soldiers. On 1 March every year, commemorations are held to remember the the former resistance movement whose members continued fighting after World War II for Polish national independence and took up arms to oppose Soviet and Polish representatives of the communist state consolidating its power.

The last fighting member of the Polish anti-communist national resistance movement lost his life on 21 October 1963, so the runners paid tribute to his memory by covering a distance of 1963 meters. Hundreds of peacekeepers entered the armed run, among them soldiers from the 15th and 16th rotations of the Hungarian Defence Forces KFOR Contingent.

Following the run, the organizers invited all participants for a traditional Polish meal.
