Saber Strike 2015: Strength Through Partnership

NATO is not composed of the United States of America alone – this was the main idea and objective of Exercise Saber Strike 2015 in Poland, with the participation of 14 nations having the motto “We move separately, we strike together!”

The tasks executed between June 8–19 involved close to 6,000 troops fighting together under the exercise scenario. The specialty of the exercise was that each unit was working as a multinational team, so after overcoming the initial language barrier, soldiers of different nations had to adjust their tactics to each other as well.

On the distinguished visitors’ day of the almost two-week Exercise Saber Strike 2015, senior officers and representatives of the participating nations had opportunity to see how their troops can cooperate and counter an enemy attack with an effective force. “Heavy" fighting was going on the ground and in the air. While the Danish tank crews were advancing on the ground with artillery support from their allies, the US F-16 fighter jets and AH-64 Apache attack helicopters were providing close air support. Even a US B-52 bomber appeared and flew a circle of salute slowly but commanding respect.

“We have built a strong relationship among us during the exercise. In the two weeks, we have witnessed the formation of a new and strong Europe", the officers conducting the exercise said. In their assessment, they added that no nation can fight alone. And for this reason, none of them is ever going to fight alone, because the NATO countries can always count on each other. If needed, they fight together, shoulder to shoulder.
