Serbian Chief of Defence Visits Kecskemét Too

Ljubiša Dikocić, the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian armed forces arrived by helicopter at the HDF 59th “Szentgyörgyi Dezső” Air Base, Kecskemét. He was accompanied on his visit to the unit by Brig.-Gen. Dr. Gábor Böröndi, the commander of the HDF 5th Bocskai István Infantry Brigade.

Brig.-Gen. Nándor Kilián, the base commander received the delegation, then a commander’s briefing was given in the first part of the program. Within this, the members of the delegation gained an insight into the activity, structure and roles of the base, and learned about the capabilities of the Gripen fighters and the work of the quick reaction alert (QRA) duty service.
In what followed, during a static display the guests gained first-hand experience of the JAS–39 Gripen fighter jets as well as the MiG–29 and L–29 aircraft, which are already withdrawn from service. The program continued with a dynamic display by the JAS–39 Gripen. The guests had a glimpse into the pilots’ work and saw their high-altitude equipment and the Gripen simulator as well.
