Austrians Win Multinational Football Championship in Kosovo
Szöveg: Lt. Csaba Búz | 2016. június 5. 9:13To mark the Day of the Hungarian Defence Forces, the Hungarian soldiers serving in Kosovo organized a multinational football championship at the end of May.
Altogether eight teams entered for the five-a-side tournament held in Camp Film City, Pristina. During the daylong sporting event – organized by the members of the 14th rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent (KFOR-14 HUNCON) serving in Camp Slim Lines – Hungarian, Croatian and Austrian soldiers were competing against each other.
Exhibiting a sportsmanlike attitude, the participants scored a lot of goals at the competition, which had a good atmosphere, with some exciting and close matches. After an extra time, it was the Austrians who won the final. The silver medalist was the team of Camp Slim Lines, while the Croatians finished third.
The organizers also presented three special prizes. The “Best Goalkeeper" title went to PFC Imre B., a Hungarian soldier of Charlie Company, and SSgt. Balázs T., a service member of Delta Company was given the “Best Player" prize for scoring the most goals. The fourth-place finisher, a team drawn from the sniper sections of the two Hungarian companies received the “Fair Play" prize for the most sportsmanlike play.
