Change of Deputy Commander in KFOR

During the last one year, Brig.-Gen. Ferenc Korom was the deputy commander of the Kosovo Force (KFOR) mission. On 7 October, his position was taken over by Brig.-Gen. Christian Riemer, a general of the Austrian Armed Forces.

The handover-takeover ceremony took place at the KFOR HQ in Pristina, and was attended by Hungary’s ambassador to Kosovo László Márkusz and Maj.-Gen. János Huszár, Commander, HDF Joint Force Command.

In his speech, Brig.-Gen. Ferenc Korom thanked the nations serving in the Balkans Joint Operational Area (JOA) for their attitude and the joint work.

Maj.-Gen. Giovanni Fungo, the commander of KFOR thanked Brig.-Gen. Korom for his service in Kosovo, and awarded him a medal in recognition.

As a token of appreciation and respect, Col. José Benrós, the senior national representative of the Portuguese contingent stationed in the region also handed over a medal to the outgoing deputy commander.

At the event, in the name of the Chief of Defence, Maj.-Gen. János Huszár presented tokens of appreciation and awards from the commander of the HDF Joint Force Command.

After the flag handover ceremony, the event closed with the NATO anthem.
