For the first time, between June 16 and 20, 2014, the HDF 1st “Honvéd” EOD and Warship Regiment hosted divers from Slovakia at the military port of the Hungarian Defence Forces.

Under an agreement of cooperation between the Hungarian and Slovak ministries of defence, nine scout and multifunctional divers from the engineer battalions of Sered and Zvolen as well as eight special EOD divers from the HDF 1st EOD and Warship Regiment executed tasks during a joint training session in the last few days.

The objective of this agreement of cooperation is to allow the military divers declared to international missions to learn about the techniques, training system and operation of equipment of partner countries. The academic training was held in this February, and was followed by a five-day hands-on training consisting of multiple elements, which included, for example, swimming pool tasks as well as diving operations in stagnant waters and rivers.

The joint work is to be continued in 2015, when the Sered engineer battalion will receive the Hungarian divers and introduce them to the engineer/EOD on-site reconnaissance of crafts and the techniques of deepwater (combat) engineer reconnaissance missions.
