Gen. Tibor Benkő Participated in EUMC/CHODs Meeting
Szöveg: MoD Defence Staff | 2011. november 26. 6:01Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő, the Chief of the MoD Defence Staff represented Hungary at the meeting of the EU Military Committee Chiefs of Defence (EUMC/CHODs) in Brussels.
At their meeting held on Tuesday, November 22 the Chiefs of Defence discussed Operation EUFOR ALTHEA and the ongoing operations around the Horn of Africa. Among the topics of capability development, they focused on the Pooling and Sharing project and the program known as Single European Sky Air Traffic Management Research (SESAR) aimed at modernizing the infrastructure of air traffic management.
The Chiefs of Defence of EU member states agreed on the importance of their countries’ further commitment to Operation EUFOR ALTHEA, the timely consideration of extending the mandate of EUTM Somalia beyond 2012 and that of Operation EU NAVFOR ATALANTA by another two years, until 2014.
In discussing the Pooling and Sharing process which promotes development and sharing of common capabilities, the Chiefs of Defence decided to develop their existing multinational cooperation until mid-2012, to launch new projects and to expand their participation in the ongoing ones.
