American Cadets in Szolnok

Under the Cultural Understanding and Leadership Proficiency (CULP) program American cadets paid a visit to the HDF 86th Szolnok Helicopter Base on 11th July.

During the presentation of the Base, the cadets were introduced to the main tasks, the structure of the helicopter base and the aircraft used. They were also informed about the structure and training system of the HDF Peace Support Training Centre (HDF PSTC) stationing in the garrison.

During the visit the students could try out the special helicopter tactical simulator unique in Europe, where, having put on the VR goggles, they could become the door gunners of a transport helicopter in an instant. The more adventurous ones – while sitting in the pilot’s seat – could experience what it is like to fly a helicopter in a combat zone.

After the virtual experiences, the visitors could get into real helicopters in the education hangar, and they could view the Mi-24 combat helicopters, which are back after an industrial overhaul.
