The soldiers – who are mostly drawn from the HDF Joint Force Command and its subordinate military organizations and the HDF Military Augmentation, Preparation and Training Command – carried out the second phase of the training in Poland.

Since the beginnings, the NATO Joint Force Training Center (JFTC, Bydgoszcz) has been responsible for the pre-deployment training of troops preparing for the RSM in Afghanistan. Accordingly, the staff of the center planned and conducted the two-week Resolute Support Training Event with great expertise and professionalism.

During the time spent at the JFTC, the incoming Core Staff Element (CSE) of the Resolute Support Mission Headquarters (RSM HQ, Kabul) and the Train Advise Assist Command North (TAAC-N) had opportunity to learn the essentials from those trainers who recently served in and returned from the theatre of war. Among others, Brig.-Gen. André Bodemann, the previous commander of the TAAC-N also shared his personal experience with the soldiers under training.

Besides academics, the incoming staff and advisors of the TAAC-N also acquired practical skills. The advisors practiced their future tasks with the help of native Afghan interpreters and role-players, so they were able to encounter some upcoming real-world challenges.

The several live video-teleconferences with generals and key leaders also served the purpose of sharing lessons learned and essential information. During the training, the JFTC placed great emphasis on team building in the headquarters consisting of soldiers of more than 20 nations.
