Kyokushin Karate Training Camp for Children

A Kyokushin karate training camp was recently organized for the children of Hungarian soldiers serving in Mons, Belgium and for young people from another seven nations.

In the last two semesters, Col. János Csombók, Deputy Military Representative of the Hungarian Defence Forces at Supreme Headquarters Allied Forces Europe (SHAPE), Mons (4 kyu karateka) and his son Mátyás (6 kyu karateka) held regular karate classes for the 25-person group twice a week. The children participated in the close to two-hour practice sessions showing great perseverance and enthusiasm.

The training camp was organized with support from the Remmei Kyokushin Karate Sport Club (Tata, Hungary), and the classes were supervised by karate masters sempai Kornél Szabó (2 dan) and sensei Tibor Horváth (4 dan).

During the program, there was time for self-defence training together with the parents, and for making an excursion. The children coming from Hungary had opportunity to visit the seaside town of Blankenberge, where they did a short practice on the beach. Of course, the program included a sightseeing in Brussels as well.

At the end of the training camp, many participants successfully passed a belt exam.
