Exercise Brave Warrior 2017 is a significant exercise of the Visegrád Four (V4) countries. Being joined by US, British, Croatian and Romanian forces of substantial strength, the exercise is a good demonstration of the cooperation of regional and allied military forces. The objective of the weekslong exercise is to develop interoperability among the participating nations, and prepare them for the possible tasks of hybrid warfare. In the coming days, the close to 3000 troops will be using hundreds of vehicles in the Bakony military training area and range.
The opening ceremony was held at Camp Újmajor, where, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Defence and the Commander of the HDF Joint Force Command, Brig.-Gen. Dr. Romulusz Ruszin, the commander of the HDF 5th Bocskai István Infantry Brigade welcomed the troops of the nations participating in the exercise. In his speech, General Ruszin emphasized that the nations present here have already been co-deployed in numerous foreign missions, so the exercise is an excellent opportunity to brush up on the collectively applied tactics.
“It is a special pleasure for us that seven nations have sent their well-trained troops to Hungary so they can participate in this training event that falls under Exercise Saber Guardian. I wish everyone a successful exercise, please enjoy the hospitality of the Hungarian Defence Forces and the Bocskai brigade", the general said.
The exercise continues with familiarization with the military equipment of other nations, and maneuvers in the training area.
