This spring, Maj.-Gen. Sándor Fucsku – a former commander of the Hungarian Defence Forces Joint Force Command – was appointed Deputy Commander of Multinational Joint Headquarters (MN JHQ) Ulm. The local German media also reported about his takeover at the headquarters.

At a press briefing, MN JHQ Commander Lt.-Gen. Richard Roßmanith (left in the photo) said that the staff of the headquarters is very pleased to welcome Gen. Fucsku in the new deputy commander’s position because he has excellent international relationships and his service has been highly appreciated in several fields.

Close to 800 soldiers from 16 nations are posted at the Multinational Joint Headquarters Ulm (MN JHQ – Ulm). The Command’s core competency is the ability to plan and exercise command and control over jointly operating allied land, air, and naval forces at the request of NATO or the EU.

Lt.-Gen. Richard Roßmanith noted that Maj.-Gen. Sándor Fucsku has extensive experience in this field too, because he had already served at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels and did a tour as a key leader in Afghanistan as well.

The German media also report that the Hungarian deputy commander has already lived in Germany in the late 90s, as he graduated from the Bundeswehr General Staff course in Hamburg.

“Ever since then, I have been longing to return to this country. Ulm is a beautiful and especially attractive city", the journalists quoted Maj.-Gen. Sándor Fucsku.
