Having been airlifted to the area, during the in-mission training sessions the members of the
new rotation are introduced to the camp and the safety rules, and commence with taking over
the logistic materiel, the positions and the related tasks.

Since the camp is at an elevation of 1800 meters, the ambient air here is thinner than in
Hungary, so it is acclimatization to the area that poses the greatest challenge to the Hungarian
soldiers in addition to the tasks of the first few days.

Also known as “the gateway to Afghanistan", the Kabul International Airport (KAIA) is the
most important aerodrome in the country, with an annual passenger traffic exceeding two
million persons. The airport is currently operating under the command of the International
Security Assistance Force (ISAF), and the allied forces are serving here in six-month
rotations.
