Students’ Visit to Szolnok

A group of students from the Institute of International Studies, National University of Public Service recently visited the HDF Peace Support Training Center (PSTC) in Szolnok.

Organized for the first time, the English-language training and research program involves university students – mostly foreign ones – and public service employees who would like to gain a deeper insight into the international fields of public service. In accordance with the training program, the students participate in a two-week hands-on training which includes visits to institutions and study tours. The objective of this program is to acquaint the participants with the key actors and the workings of Hungary’s system of institutions in the fields of public service and defence policy.

One of the institutions visited was the HDF Peace Support Training Centre, where the students were introduced to the activity of the unit and the national and international tasks of peace support operations. They received detailed information about the UN-accredited International Military Observer Course (IMOC) and the integrated pre-deployment training support system for peace operations under construction, which encompasses the selection of personnel for foreign missions, pre-deployment training support and the collection and analysis of lessons learned during peacekeeping pre-deployment training and foreign missions.
