They Have Received Medals for Peacekeeping

The ceremonial medal parade of the Mobile Force Reserve (MFR) took place on August 24 at the headquarters of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP HQ) in Nicosia.

Nine peacekeepers from the personnel of the Hungarian contingent (UNFICYP HUNCON) serve with the MFR. Of them, Sgt. Tamás Jelinkó, Sgt. Gusztáv Vaszócsik, Cpl. János Nyerges, Cpl. Sándor Elek and Cpl. Attila Mátrácz received the medals for peacekeeping.

SFC Róbert Kollát – a “veteran" of the Mobile Force Reserve – as well as SSgt. Anikó Petró, SSgt. János Koncz and Cpl. Dávid Magyar distinguished themselves in making preparations for the ceremony and in its successful conduct.

Col. Angus Loudon, the UNFICYP Chief of Staff, Lt.-Col. Jozef Panko, the commander of Sector 4 and Lt.-Col. Péter Lukács, the commander of the Hungarian contingent honored the parade with their presence. First Maj. Craig-Hampton Stone, the commander of MFR praised the high professional standards of the Mobile Force Reserve, then Maj.-Gen. Chao Liu, UNFICYP Force Commander delivered a thank-you speech, in which he repeatedly emphasized the harmonic multinational cooperation over the past five months, the effectiveness of exercises and the success of the events secured by the MFR.
