Twentieth Rotation Starts Working

A ceremonial staff meeting was recently held for the soldiers of the 19th rotation of the HDF EUFOR Contingent (EUFOR-19 HUNCON) in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo. At the event, József Négyesi, Hungary’s ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina thanked the members of the contingent for the work done in the last six months.

At the staff meeting, EUFOR Chief of Staff Brig.-Gen. Albert Sáfár, Senior National Representative awarded tokens of appreciation to Maj. Tibor Vigh and Maj. Gyula Dede. Certificates were presented to Maj. Gusztáv Jely, Capt. Ákos Győri, Capt. Barnabás Tóth, Lt. István Käfer, Lt. Ádám Nagy, CW2 Györgyi Gulyás, SFC Ottó Demeter and SFC Orsolya Földes.

The personnel of the EUFOR-19 HUNCON and EUFOR-20 HUNCON carried out the handover-takeover of responsibilities between the middle and the end of January, and the transfer of authority also took place with the two commanders’ signing the record of transfer. In what followed, the colors of the HDF 12th Arrabona Surface-to-Air Missile Regiment (Győr) were lowered, and replaced with the colors of the HDF 43rd Nagysándor József Signal and Command Support Regiment, now flying next to the flags of the European Union and Hungary.

Speaking at the ceremony, Col. Vilmos Nosza, Chief of Staff, NATO Headquarters Sarajevo (NHQSa) thanked Contingent Commander Lt.-Col. János Stoszek and the personnel of the 19th rotation for their dedicated work. He also wished Lt.-Col. István Megtért and his men every success with their work.

The EUFOR-20 HUNCON has started its tour of duty in the area of operations with a 30-strong reception support section. The rest of the contingent, consisting of 117 troops, is currently on stand-by in Hungary.
