This book gives an insight into the very difficult mission and challenging everyday routine of the HDF 1st ‘Honvéd’ EOD and Warship Regiment. The personnel serving with this unit are the soldiers of fire and water indeed. Day after day, they deploy to locate and neutralise the unexploded explosive ordnances (UXOs) unearthed in the area of the country, including artillery shells, hand-grenades, different types of bombs and mines. The EOD personnel of the regiment carry out critical tasks in the ISAF peace support mission in Afghanistan, risking their lives. Professional knowledge of the highest standards, responsibility, precision, courage, discipline and permanent readiness are indispensable for the performance of their job. These soldiers face death every day. Their service is priceless, since nobody’s life can be measured by material assets. Their core roles have been extended to include providing waterborne support to EOD missions.
