The official name of the Fairford Air Show is Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), so the title of our brief summary will perhaps not be taken as irreverent. During the central ceremony of the Ministry of Defence held on August 18, Defence Minister Dr. Csaba Hende awarded the “For the Homeland” medal to Maj. Tibor Molnár, a JAS-39 Gripen pilot of the HDF 59th Szentgyörgyi Dezső Air Base in recognition of his outstanding professional performance. The decorated fighter pilot gave his first interview to Zrínyi Média about the events of the training flight.

New Year – New Capability

In mid-December an extramural session was held by the Defence and Internal Security Committee of the National Assembly at the shooting range of the HDF Support Brigade in Püspökszilágyi to inspect the first batch of soldiers trained in the system of volunteer defence reserve. The host of the demonstration was MoD State Secretary Dr. István Simicskó.
