The troops of the HDF KFOR contingent currently deployed in the area of operations are going to hand over their tasks to the personnel of the next rotation in a few days. While some Hungarian peacekeepers already received the NATO medal for service in Kosovo a couple of weeks ago, most of them received it in the last few days.

The first medal parade was held in Camp Novo Selo in late June, when Delta Company of the Hungarian contingent received the medals of recognition. During the ceremony, Lt.-Col. Mark D. Federovich, the commander of the forward command post praised the job done by the Hungarian troops. He told them that he would be pleased to serve together with the Hungarians any time at any place of the world, because through they work they had not only earned reputation for the Hungarian Defence Forces, but also for Hungary. They were the best of all companies deployed in Crow Riot Control (CRC) tasks, the lieutenant-colonel said.

The soldiers of Charlie Company received the medals for peacekeeping service in Camp Slim Lines, Pristina in July. At the event, Lt.-Col. Jorge Filipe Da Silva Ferreira, the commander of the KFOR Tactical Reserve Maneuver Battalion (KTM) thanked the Hungarian troops for their work and emphasized the close cooperation between the Portuguese and the Hungarian nations, symbolized by a slogan at the gate of the camp that reads“Two Nations, One Force".

The Hungarian soldiers serving with the command of the contingent and the support element took over the medals some days ago. At this event, Deputy Head of Mission Dr. István Sipos represented the Hungarian Embassy. In his speech, Lt.-Col. János Gacsal, contingent commander emphasized that he is proud of the soldiers and the results they achieved. He said thanks to the soldiers as well as their relatives for their determination, because six months is a lot of time without the family. Finally he requested all personnel to hand over their positions to the next rotation with honor.
