On the occasion of the Day of the Hungarian Defence Forces, a ceremony was held for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Stefánia Palace on Tuesday afternoon. “On this day, we thank all government officials, civil servants and civilian helpers who have assisted the cause of national defence in Hungary through their sustained and outstanding professional efforts, and have helped the Hungarian Defence Forces with their work" – the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence said in his speech. As he said, without their persistence and support, the Hungarian Defence Forces would not be a publicly recognized, exemplary institution, which strengthens our country also with work stimulating national cooperation and with charity service.

Tamás Vargha thanked the recipients of the awards for their high-level professional work, and then presented them with the awards. Lt.-Col. Dr. István Toperczer (MD) – the author of countless professional publications popularizing aviation – received the Miklós Jósika Prize for the public education of the Hungarian Defence Forces, for the advancement of general and vocational learning of the personnel, for preserving the traditions of national defence and for the high-level interpretation and promulgation of Hungarian culture and arts in the Hungarian Defence Forces. Courier Military Tradition-Preserving News Flash received the László Mednyánszky Prize; in his speech, Tamás Vargha talked about the careers of Miklós Jósika and László Mednyánszky.

In addition, several other awards were presented. Károly Bozsonyi, PhD, the general manager of MoD Zrínyi Nonprofit Co. received the Silver Grade of the Title of Merit “For Hungarian War Grave Care".
