An advisory team from the Afghan Border Police 806th Zone (ABP 806th ZONE) paid a visit to the Police Training Centre operating in Mazar-e Sharif on June 30. The visit was prepared and organized by the German Police Project Team (GPPT), the sponsor and mentor of the centre.

The centre trains NCOs for the Afghan National Defence Security Forces (ANDSF) deployed in the northern region of the country, runs basic training courses for recruits and organizes military re-training and follow-on training programs. The visit by the advisory team was aimed at exploring the scope of possibilities in the field of training and cooperation.

The centre has modern equipment and special classrooms for instruction in topics such as basic IT skills, academic training for motor vehicle drivers, as well as general military and law enforcement curriculums. One of its advantages is that it has a shooting range of its own, where the enrolled NCOs have opportunity to put the elements of marksmanship theory into practice by firing pistols and assault rifles.

During a visit to the commandant of the centre, the advisory team offered to cooperate with the ABP in order to ensure the most economical and efficient use of the training installation, and the commandant was pleased to accept the offer.
