Among Aircraft – Reporting from Afghanistan

Szöveg: Balázs Trautmann |  2012. június 1. 9:06

Helicopters played the leading role in Monday morning when technicians of the sixth and seventh rotations of the HDF Air Mentor Team went together to inspect the attack helicopters standing on the tarmac…

In addition to the technicians of the Afghan Air Force, the Hungarians also mounted one of the helicopters, as they were tasked with checking the aircraft thoroughly during the transfer of authority procedure. The event provided an opportunity for the Afghan partners, the aircraft maintenance technicians and the aircrews to meet each other and introduce themselves to their new colleagues.

The air traffic of Kabul made its “introduction" too, since on one occasion several helicopters landed in quick succession in some minutes on the helipads prepared for them next to the runway, while an aircraft with German markings was taking off and a civil transport aircraft was waiting at the runway threshold. It is a common sight, since Kabul International Airport (KAIA) is the most important civil-military aerodrome with the highest volume of air traffic in Afghanistan.
