The objective of the special basic live fire exercise for combat vehicle gunners is to ensure that the operating crew members familiarize themselves with the use of the turret weapons of the BTR-80 and BTR-80/A combat vehicles. The school live fire exercises are focused on improving the soldiers’ marksmanship skills.
During the live fire exercises conducted by night, the soldiers of Tata used the night vision equipment of the vehicles, and thanks to the support provided by a US mortar platoon, they had opportunity to fire their weapons in the light produced by illumination rounds.
In the course of the school live fire exercises, the personnel of the 2nd infantry battalion participating fired machine guns and autocannon in static positions and during short stops. In the last part of the LFX, their preparedness was assessed with test live fire exercises, which were conducted by night and day.
Besides the tasks executed with combat vehicles, a number of individual live fire training events took place recently on the “0" point range. The RPG operators conducted a test LFX in the interest of assessing their marksmanship skills. The concurrent pistol and assault rifle target practices involved those soldiers who had not yet completed their prescribed individual firing tasks in this year.
The cavalry squadron, mortar crews and artillerymen of the US forces participating in Exercise Brave Warrior 2015 also had a chance to test their weapons on the range. Using the lookout on Kőrös-hill, the artillerymen destroyed the targets placed for them with direct fire.
