After a successful missile firing campaign and an air-to-air gunnery executed with cannons, Exercise Air Superiority continued with low-level flights at Vidsel Air Base, Sweden. Like always, the mission commenced with careful planning and drawing of the necessary clothing and gears, while the ground crew was already doing the pre-flight checks on the Gripens designated for the flight.
The aircraft took off from the runway in pairs, and carried out the air tasking order (ATO) while flying often at an altitude of merely 150 meters. With this, the pilots navigating above the snow-covered, icy ground have completed the last training mission in Vidsel.
On Friday, March 20 the Hungarian air crews left the air base in Sweden and returned to Kecskemét. The pilots will soon be followed by the ground crew members, after they will have prepared all ground support equipment and technology for the some 3000-km journey back home.
