Half Marathon Challenge
Szöveg: HUN PRT-12 PAO | 2012. augusztus 28. 16:33A few soldiers of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT) recently thought that despite being deployed 5,000 kilometers away from Hungary, they would not like to miss out on a really difficult challenge, the NIKE Budapest Half Marathon running race.
Camp Pannonia is at an elevation of 650 meters, and the height difference is up to ten meters at some places. The competitors ran a so-called “camp lap" which amounts to 620 meters, so they had to cover a total of 34 laps. At middle distance the reading on the thermometer was close to 40 degrees Celsius, so the runners were provided with refreshment and a watery gate that made it easier for them to negotiate the kilometers.
Of course, the medical section of the contingent was present at multiple points, watching and securing the race, and the enthusiastic supporters cheered their comrades.
The winning competitor completed the race in 1 hour 30 minutes, whereas the last one crossing the finish line did so in 2 hours 4 minutes.
