On April 21, a dozen military attachés accredited to Budapest visited HDF Pápa Air Base, where they had an opportunity to have a detailed briefing and to see static and dynamic displays. Of course, the C-17 Globemaster airlifter was a highlight of the program, while the high-powered Rosenbauer Panther 6×6 CA-5 airport crash tender (also known as airport fire appliance) was pouring water on the runway during a demonstration of effects.

The half-day program started with three presentations. Firstly, Base Vice Commander Lt Col Zsolt Magasy introduced the guests to the colorful history of the air base, summarizing the investments that had been indispensable for basing the C-17 fleet at Pápa.
In what followed, László Szarvas, the deputy general manager of the NATO Airlift Management Agency (NAMA) held a presentation, using some pictures to illustrate the rather complex work done by the NAMA and the Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW). Finally, Lt Col Daniel Clark, the commander of the HAW Heavy Airlift Squadron informed the military attachés about the tasks executed and the key missions accomplished, also telling them about the capabilities of the C-17 aircraft.

Having left the briefing room, the guests were shown around the aerodrome and had opportunity to have first-hand experience of a Globemaster and the work of the ground crew serving at the aerodrome. Some venturesome attachés even got in the airport crash tender, so they were able to watch the demonstration from the inside, which was quite spectacular as seen from the outside too.
