The Hungarian phase ended on Monday, 20 March at the Faculty of Military Science and Officer Training of the National University of Public Service (NUPS FMSOT) in Budapest.
The scenario of the program is based on a conventional UN-mandated peace support operation. The contingent is tasked with disarming militias of the opposing sides, collecting weapons, supervising the ceasefire and preventing support from any third-party armed forces. Later on, besides the Hungarian and Czech participants, the Bundesheer Logistic School and the University of Defence in Belgrade also joined the program.
This year’s Fourlog is organized into three main phases, of which the first one was conducted in Vienna and at the Bundesheer 33rd Light Infantry Battalion (Zwölfaxing) between 12 and 16 March. Here, the training audience underwent an integration training to prepare for the modeled peace support operation.
During the Budapest phase, under the scenario the trainees conducted a logistic survey in the fictitious area of operations, which involved the local governments of four communities – Érd, Veresegyház, Szentendre and Vecsés – that are located close to Budapest, as well as logisticians from the HDF 59th Szentgyörgyi Dezső Air Base. In addition, during the classroom training the students used the Logistic Functional Areas Service (LOGFAS) system in working out special logistic support assignments, which were based on situation reports. On 20 March they submitted the related reports to their superiors in the gala hall of the NUPS FMSOT in Zrínyi Miklós barracks. Here, the officer conducting the exercise (OCE), Lt.-Col. Dr. József Venekei summed up the assignments, and then Faculty Dean Col. Dr. Árpád Pohl also welcomed the participants.
The exercise will continue until 25 March at the University of Defence in Brno and the Vyskov army training facility of the Czech armed forces.
