The exercise, called Thunder Road IV, was based on a realistic scenario and preceded by a two-week planning process. The purpose of the Crowd Riot Control (CRC) exercise was to synchronize the CRC procedures for the companies assigned to the Multinational Battle Group East Forward Command Post (MNBG-E FCP).
During the After Action Review, the company commanders (HUN, GER, POL and US) and the exercise director identified what went wrong and took immediate action in order to avoid further problems. The practice was successful and reached its purpose, because the problems came to light on the exercise, not in a real situation.
As part of the MNBG-E FCP, the aforementioned companies execute patrol, force protection and CRC tasks.
