Opening Ceremony in Debrecen at a New Venue

The apropos of the event was the transformation of the ‘Gábor Dénes’ Electronics Technical Secondary School and Dormitory launched this year with the co-operation of the Ministry of Defence and the Municipality of Debrecen City of County Rank. Thanks to this the students can start the next school year in the special school, unique in the country, respecting the rules of soldierly life and the working order.

Government official Ferenc Scharek, the Deputy Head of the MoD Department for Human Policy greeted the students lined up on the parade ground, and underlined: besides the elite-level instruction, the goals of the school’s mission statement will also include educating the young people for a healthy way of life, discipline, collectedness, preciseness and the love of the homeland.

He drew the attention to the rules, which the students, who enter the new system, have to keep. He said: as a result of the strict daily programs, the comradeships formed, the regular testing regimes and the accountability, the young cadets will get accustomed to responsibility and the weight of community.

Afterwards, on behalf of the Mayor’s Office of Debrecen City of County Rank Mrs. Katalin Papp Gyulai, the head of the Education Section delivered her festive speech, recalling the collaboration and efforts, which made the establishment of the honvéd secondary school possible.

On behalf of Lajos Gubcsi, PhD, the Managing Director of the Zrínyi Média MoD Communication Ltd., György M. Tóth, editor handed over symbolically a copy of the three hundred books, which the Zrínyi Média donated to the school’s library, promoting by this that the young people can find the right way towards home defence and patriotic life.

“The token of the soldiers’ bravery is the war plan of their leader" – began his greeting the headmaster of the school Gábor Berkecz, who recited the achievements of the KatonaSuli (Military School) until today, then spoke highly about the endeavours of the Ministry of Defence, the Zrínyi Média, the brigade and the City. After that the headmaster officially opened the 2011/2012 school year.
