The members of the delegation were informed about the Hungarian tasks related to the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and the Convention on the prohibition of the development, production and stockpiling of bacteriological (biological) and toxin weapons and on their destruction (BTWC) as well as the legal environment of these conventions. After the discussion, the Chilean experts – among them, chemists, lawyers and a staff member of the Chilean Ministry of Defence – visited the CBRN Area Control Centre, where Col. Ferenc Farkas, the commander of the centre introduced them to the history, work and goals of the military unit under his command.

Among others, the delegation was informed that the experts of the unit founded in 1969 perform their duties professionally both in Hungary and in foreign missions. They are present in Iraq, the Balkans, Cyprus and Afghanistan. After the presentation, there was a technical display during which the delegation was introduced to the range of sampling devices such as equipment for measuring radiation, biological contamination and chemical warfare agents/toxic industrial chemicals (CWA/TIC). They were also shown the mobile laboratory, and they saw how the soldiers would work in a potential emergency.
