V4 EU Battle Group Goes on Standby

V4 EU Battle Group began its standby period with an opening ceremony on Friday, 28th June in Krakow.

The V4 EU Battle Group launches its standby service for the second time on 1st July, based on the political and military preparation and pre-deployment training exercises of the Member States. Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia put their military capabilities in operational readiness for a six-month period in order to be able to help handle a potential crisis situation. The opening ceremony was attended by the Polish Minister of Defence Mariusz Balszczak, thus emphasising the importance of the V4 co-operation.

With an eye to demonstrate its dedication Hungary provides the Deputy Commander’s position in the activity of the Battle Group, in the person of Colonel Gábor Lőrincz. In the opening ceremony the Hungarian Contingent was led by Colonel Zoltán Szekeres.
