More than six thousand students have submitted their application to Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defence. The admission marks were announced on July 22 – in September, 1375 first year students will begin their studies in the Bachelors or Masters programmes of the university.

Compared to the previous year, thirteen thousand more students have applied for admission to institutions of higher education. They were anxiously waiting for the announcement of admission marks – open air-events, so-called ’Admission Mark Parties’ were held in several cities, with giant screens displaying the information published on the website of the Tertiary Education Information Centre.

Following the July 22 decision, in September, 97,706 first year students will begin their studies at Hungarian universities and colleges. 54,634 of them have been admitted to Bachelor’s programs and 13,561 to Master’s programs subsidised by the state. 4,685 students have applied for admission to Bolyai János Faculty of Military Engineering, while 1,749 submitted their application to Kossuth Lajos Faculty of Military Science. Of the latter, 1,375 students have gained admission to Bachelor’s or Master’s programs. There were 651 applicants for military courses – i.e. the following majors: military engineering, security technologies, military management – of whom 135 have gained admission. They have been granted scholarship and they will begin their studies on September 1.

Based on information published on the website of the National Defence University, applicants majoring in military management in the Bolyai János Faculty of Military Engineering had to ‘collect’ a minimum of 400 marks, and 399 was the minimum for students appling for the military leadership course. There were twenty times as many applicants for both courses as the number of available places.

As always, those who did not gain admission ’in the first round’ can apply again in the framework of so-called secondary admissions. Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defence has also given students another opportunity to apply for certain courses. Application forms can be submitted until August 10 for the following courses: military engineering and security technology, mechanical engineering, traffic engineering, finance and accounting, military logistics, law enforcement education, security and defence policy. More details on the secondary admission are available from the National Defence University.
