Background to a Ministerial Visit

The execution of logistic tasks in the mission is the responsibility of a three-strong Hungarian support team which reports to the logistic chief. They transport the members and guests of the mission to the airport and manage there all travel-related matters.

In cooperation with a nominated officer of the Spanish contingent, Hungarian team leader WO Sándor Nagy and his two comrades, WO László Bernáth and SFC Zoltán Nemes organized all phases of the reception of the Spanish delegation at the airport and its transport to the camp. They designated armored vehicles for the convoy transporting the guests and assigned drivers to them. Among other things, by involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Immigration Office, the management of the airport and other local authorities, they had to make sure that the guests can arrive through the VIP lounge of the airport, to facilitate quick and smooth entry and exit for those members of the delegation who do not have diplomatic passports, and to provide an adequate parking lot for the convoy. In dealing with these matters externally, a great help to them was the good personal relationship that had developed earlier between members of the logistic team and the airport authorities.

After a long period of preparatory and organizing work, the seasoned members of the Hungarian team carried out the concrete transportation task without any problems. The minister was transported by WO Nagy, who does not only speak good English but also has proficiency in Spanish. At the end of the visit, María Dolores de Cospedal García said goodbye to her Hungarian companions with satisfaction, in a good mood, as evidenced by a group photo with them that was sent afterwards.
