Bean Goulash on the Table
Szöveg: Capt. Imre Farkas, Capt. Attila Sipőcz | 2013. március 22. 11:01The Officers’ Mess Night, a meeting of soldiers serving at the EUFOR and NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo was organized on March 12 by the Hungarians on the occasion of March 15, Hungary’s national holiday.
The host of the event was Brig.-Gen. (Eng.) József Szpisják, Hungarian Senior National
Representative and Chief of Staff at the EUFOR HQ. Altogether 75 soldiers from 16 nations
had accepted the invitation, among them COMEUFOR Maj.-Gen. Dieter Heidecker and Brig.-
Gen. Walt Lord, the commander of the NATO HQ Sarajevo.

After the welcome speeches, the guests were invited to take their seats at tables set with
dishes of the Hungarian cuisine – bean goulash, bread rolls filled with curd cheese and a cake
with the Hungarian Tricolor on it. WO Károly Horváth helped the local chefs in preparing the
menu and the meals. During the dinner, multimedia materials were presented to the foreign
soldiers about Hungary and Budapest.
