The main force of the contingent recently arrived in Kosovo. The logistic subunits had already deployed to Camp Slim Lines to start the handover-takeover process and to make arrangements for the rest of the contingent to arrive in the area of operations.
Some hard weeks are ahead for the soldiers of “Charlie" Company too, the 1st rifle company of the joint Portuguese–Hungarian KFOR Tactical Reserve Maneuver Battalion (KTM) – the maneuver element of the KFOR Headquarters. Having received their equipment, they almost immediately started their in-mission training, during which they increase the skills acquired in the pre-deployment training at Debrecen, Hungary by integrating the latest lessons learned in the area of operations.
They will close the in-mission training with conducting a Full Operational Capability (FOC) exercise, where they have to demonstrate to the leaders of KFOR their readiness to execute the tasks assigned to them.
The “Bocskai" troops are going to execute their maneuver tasks in Kosovo together with the personnel of the Portuguese 2nd Parachute Battalion. The KFOR-9 contingent is expected to start operating during the next few weeks, after the transfer of authority (TOA) ceremony.
