COMSOCEUR Visits Hungary

Maj.-Gen. Michael Repass, the commander of the US Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR) paid a visit to Hungary on June 7.

Maj.-Gen. Michael Repass explored the possibilities for medium- and long-term cooperation in supporting the development of the special operations capabilities in Hungary and received an update on the plans for expanding the scope of the Hungarian Defence Forces’ role in special operations in Afghanistan.

During the one-day working visit Michael Repass had professional discussions with representatives of the MoD Defence Staff and the HDF Joint Force Command. He paid a courtesy call to István Simicskó, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence and to Lt.-Gen. Zoltán Orosz, Deputy Chief of Defence.

The COMSOCEUR’s visit continued with a working meeting with Maj.-Gen. László Domján, the commander of the HDF Joint Force Command and Col. Tamás Sándor, the commander of the HDF 34th ‘Bercsényi László’ Special Operations Forces Battalion.
