Szöveg: Capt. István Rácz | 2016. június 28. 9:00The infantrymen serving with the 18th rotation of the HDF EUFOR Contingent (EUFOR-18 HUNCON) have undergone continuous training in the recent period.
On 10th June, the Austrian–Hungarian–Turkish Headquarters of the Multinational Battalion (MNBN) – together with key leaders of the Hungarian and Turkish manoeuver companies deployed in the area of operations – held a range day in conjunction with a shooting championship. The soldiers of the participating nations carried out the live fire exercise with the infantry weapons in service with their units. By the overall results of the competition, MNBN signalman SFC László Béres finished first with an excellent hit score.
Between 13–15th June, the Hungarian rifle company was getting ready for eliminating an enemy group during fighting in built-up areas (FIBUA) in the garrison town of Kalinovik. EUFOR Chief of Staff Brig.-Gen. Albert Sáfár – Senior National Representative of the Hungarian troops deployed in the area of operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) – was also present on the spot to observe some phases of the training event, which encompassed the full spectrum of tactical and operational planning and management and battle drills. At the end of the training, on 16th June the company demonstrated its preparedness and high professional standards in the presence of MNBN Commander Lt.-Col. Michael Vitovec.
After the closing exercise, Lt.-Col. Vitovec praised the Hungarian servicemembers’ professionalism, discipline and level of preparedness for carrying out operational tasks. However, the series of training events and exercises for the Hungarian troops – who are scheduled to return home on 16th July – has not ended yet. Between 20th and 24th June, for the third time during its tour abroad, the company will take part in a joint training program again, together with the BiH armed forces in Tuzla. The collective training for conducting peacekeeping military operations in urban terrain (MOUT) will involve the 1st platoon of the company.
