EUFOR acting in conjunction with the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies

On 02 October 2013, The Chief of Staff (COS) EUFOR, Brigadier General József SZPISJÁK, paid an official visit to the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies (DCPB). The visit was focused on continuing the practical cooperation between EUFOR and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) including providing an update on the procedures and status of EUFOR/NATO Identification cards.

Mr. Himzo SELIMOVIĊ, director of the DCPB, welcomed the EUFOR delegation and expressed his satisfaction with the development of the relationship between EUFOR and the DCPB. He said: “We can assess that the recently conducted Exercise Quick Response 2 is a clear example how we can, and are, able to work together. The Exercise was a complete success."

General SZPISJÁK also assured the director that the support to the Exercise from the LEAs was excellent and that the EUFOR leadership considered close liaison essential to its success. The meeting also contained a presentation given by the HQ Commandant personnel representative, Mr Ferenc VARGA. He briefed the assembled audience on the existing EUFOR/NATO identification cards which are issued by EUFOR HQ. He stated: “After the EU Police Mission left BiH direct contact regarding IDs between the EUFOR HQ and LEAs broke down. Now, on completion of this meeting, the proper procedures can be re-established."

Several subjects were discussed by COS EUFOR and Director of DCPB, and official agreement on how to continue was agreed. At the conclusion of the event, General SZPISJÁK presented an appreciation letter to the LEAs representative for their support to Exercise Quick Response 2. COS EUFOR stated in his final remarks that EUFOR wish to continue to develop the relationship with the LEAs and increase the mutual levels of support and cooperation.
