Colonel Unsal Sigri head of EUFOR’s training programme explained that as the security situation in BiH has improved, EUFOR’s main effort has now moved to capacity building by providing co-ordinated training and embedded advisors to the AF BiH.
He said: “The collective training that we have seen at Rajlovac Barracks today is a great example of how we are working with the AF BiH to help further integrate them into EU and multi-national force structures."
First Lieutenant Said Velić, Company Commander of the 2nd Battalion 6th Brigade Bihać said: “This is the first time that I have had the chance to work with company commanders from EUFOR. It has been a very good opportunity to share experiences with soldiers from so many different nations."
The assignment of a new reserve force that is dedicated to BiH is designed to compensate for the recent reductions in EUFOR troop numbers and demonstrate an on-going commitment to supporting the maintenance of the Safe and Secure Environment in BiH.
The EUFOR Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Ernő Péter Siposs said: “The new EUFOR reserve troops are capable of re-enforcing in-theatre forces if requested. However, the security situation in BiH has improved in recent years and is calm."
The reserve force troops will return to their home nations shortly; however, plans are already underway for further deployed field training exercises in BiH with both the Multi-National Battalion and AF BiH companies.
