The mentors in Kabul had some exciting days recently, because in addition to their daily routine, there was a series of events in their schedule. First they welcomed in their camp the mission start-up team of soldiers from the fifth rotation of the Hungarian Defence Forces Logistic Mentor Team, who had served with the previous troop rotations of the CSS School. They were updated on the present security situation and the current and upcoming mentoring tasks.
The commander of the HDF LMT-4 reported to the generals on the tasks performed by the Logistic Mentor Team and the future changes. After the commander’s report, Col. Thomas Seifert, the commander of the German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group (GAFTAG) received the delegation. Speaking at an informal and friendly discussion, he said he was satisfied with the work of the Hungarian mentor team and stressed that they would certainly need the Hungarian logisticians’ work in the future too.
At a staff meeting held after the commanders’ meeting, Brig.-Gen. János Huszár and Brig.-Gen. (Eng.) István Szabó informed the personnel about the recent events in Hungary and the planned guidelines of the new HR strategy. In what followed, at the invitation of Lt.-Col. Salim Abdullah, the commander of the CSS School in Afghanistan, the Hungarian delegation visited the school. Lt.-Col. Salim informed his guests and praised and thanked the Hungarians for their work and support. During the meeting, Brig.-Gen. János Huszár awarded a memorial medal to Lt.-Col. Salim Abdullah as a sign of respect.
Afterwards the inspector team of the Hungarian Defence Forces National Support Element – Afghanistan checked the logistic property books and the material inventories of the HDF LMT. Life did not stop, as the mentors were preparing for a passing-out ceremony in which 240 Afghan troops received their school-leaving certificates.
