The German
general has an exceptional military career. Seven years ago he commenced service with
the Operations Command in Potsdam first as deputy commander, then he was appointed
acting commander and has been serving there since 2009 as commander. His sophisticated
leadership style, exceptional personality and wide professional experience have made him a
recognized military leader in international circles too. By his own account, he remembers with
gratitude and respect all those who have supported his work during his close to 44 years in
service, including the Hungarian soldiers.

Lt.-Gen. Hans-Werner Fritz, the incoming commander of the Bundeswehr Operations
Command had previously worked in the German Ministry of Defence. The change of
command and a grand official farewell ceremony for Lt.-Gen. Rainer Glatz was held in
Potsdam and Berlin respectively on April 23, and his Hungarian partner, the commander of
the HDF JFC was also invited to the event.
