Greeting the Former First Lieutenant living in Australia, on his One-Hundredth Birthday

A festive commemoration was held on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Australian and New-Zealand Branch of the Knightly Order of Vitéz in Melbourne, the 10th November. During the ceremony the former army officer, Sándor Fazekas was greeted on his one-hundredth birthday.

H.E. Dr. István Mikola, the Ambassador of Hungary to Canberra presented the former First Lieutenant – in recognition of his selfless heroism and his acts of courage performed for the defence of the Motherland – in addition to the Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit, the Certificate of the Minister of Defence Dr. Tibor Benkő and of the Deputy Minister, Parliamentary State Secretary Szilárd Németh, and also the Hussar statue donated by them.

The celebrated was also greeted by Mr. Oliver Fráter, the Consul of Hungary to Sydney, and Dr. László Kálmán, the Consul of Hungary to Melbourne.
