Hungary’s Future Ambassador to Kiev was Received by Minister of Defence Dr. Tibor Benkő

Defence Minister received in his office Mr. István Íjgyártó, the future Ambassador of Hungary to Kiev on Friday, 31st August in Budapest.

During the visit Minister of Defence Dr. Tibor Benkő said that Ukraine, as a neighbouring country is of priority for Hungary. Our interest is the earliest possible peaceful, negotiated solution of the crisis in Ukraine, the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Another priority is the restoration of the political and economic stability of Ukraine, the security of the Sub Carpathian Hungarians, the success of the Ukrainian defence reform.

Mr. István Íjgyártó, as former Ambassador to Bucharest and Moscow is an experienced diplomat, and as the Minister of State for Cultural and Science Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, he can strengthen the relations between the two countries also using the connecting power of culture and science in addition to the language of diplomacy, ensuring the survival of the Subcarpathian Hungarians on the native land.
