Hungarian V4 presidency starts with V4 defence policy directors’ meeting

Thanks to the improving epidemiological situation, the defence policy directors of V4 countries had an opportunity to meet in person in Budapest on 8–9 July. The Hungarian delegation was headed by Dr. Gergely Németh, Deputy State Secretary for Defence Policy of the Ministry of Defence. The primary goal of the meeting was to discuss the defence policy and military-to-military cooperation program of the Hungarian V4 presidency which started on 1 July 2021, and to make preparations for the V4 defence ministers’ meeting to be held in the autumn of 2021.

Hungary takes over V4 presidency as of 1 July

The defence ministers’ meeting to close the one-year Polish presidency was held at Headquarters NATO Multinational Division North-East (HQ MND NE) on 21 June. The main topics on the agenda of the ministers’ discussion were the current EU and NATO issues, as well as the possibilities for further strengthening and developing the V4 defence cooperation.

The Estonian Ambassador paid an introductory visit

Dr. Tibor Benkő received in his office H.E. Mr. Markku Virri, the Ambassador of Finland to Budapest on Monday, 15th July. Finland takes over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from Romania from 1st July 2019, their duties include security and defence policy issues as priorities.

The Day of the Polish Constitution

On 3rd May, in Warsaw, on the Polish Constitution Day the twentieth anniversary of the NATO-accession, and the fifteenth anniversary of the EU-accession of the country, was commemorated with a military parade. The national holiday of Poland was attended by István Szabó, the Secretary of State for Defence. During the parade our homeland was represented by the flag escort of the HDF 32nd National Honvéd Parade Unit.
