The Head of the International Reserve Alliance was Received by István Szabó Defence State Secretary

The event was attended by Ret. Brig.-Gen. Ernő Széles, the President of the Hungarian Reserve Corps (MATASZ). The apropos of the SPIA President’s visit to Hungary was to mark the signing of the accession declaration of MATASZ to the international alliance. The Defence State Secretary highlighted the developments of the Hungarian Defence Forces (HDF), then he also spoke about the participation in the peacekeeping operations. “We pay specific attention for the MATASZ activity, and we greatly appreciate the accession to the SPIA organisation" – István Szabó stated.

The SPIA President gave information about the operation and the task-system of the alliance, and welcomed that Hungarian reserve comrades became the new members of the alliance. He thanked for the MATASZ activity, and Hungary’s engagement in the international peacekeeping missions.

The membership of the Soldiers for Peace International Association includes the persons, who took part in the UN peacekeeping missions – in particular policemen and soldiers –, and all those ambassadors, military attachés, UN-employees, civilians, who participated in providing support for peace missions. The admission of MATASZ has increased the alliance’s membership to twenty-one.
